5 Healthy Thanksgiving Dishes

Oh Turkey day – the day of pure unadulterated gluttony. Where you wear your stretch pants with reckless abandon. Thanksgiving can definitely be mixed for many people in terms of food, family and emotions. Some people love it, some hate it, some couldn’t care less. But most people agree that it’s the day to stuff your face until you’re feeling like Violet from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

If you’re looking for some healthier alternatives this year to help you indulge in moderation, here are 5 recipes I think you’ll enjoy!

Honey Roasted Sweet Potatoes – This easy sweet potatoes side can be created in just over an hour with just 6 ingredients. It’s the perfect replacement to sweet potatoes with marshmallows if that’s your jam. Takes about 15 minute of prep-time, and about an hour of cook time.

Pumpkin-Yogurt Cheesecake – Looking for a pumpkin dessert that can boost a little extra sprinkle of protein? This is your perfect match. It is going to be a lengthier dish though. So be sure to read the directions ahead of time. You’ll want a minimum of 7hours (it has to set up), or overnight!

Homemade Cranberry Sauce – Cranberry’s are a really healthy choice – they’re chalk full of vitamin C and antioxidants that are great for your overall health. But canned or store bought options can have a lot of added sugar. Making it from home can help you control the sugar component.

Apple Crisp – This easy, ready in an hour, dessert is the perfect ending to all the savory delectable. To further cut sugars you could also use a substitute (be sure to look at the suggested conversions though!)

One Pan Roasted Veggies – Want to pack a veggie punch? This is just the ticket. And super easy – you just toss everything into a bowl to season, put on a pan, stick in the oven. Can’t get much easier!

The internet is FULL of healthier alternatives for Thanksgiving dinners, lunch, brunch or however you celebrate. Maybe just pick one dish to experiment with – or make it a little competition with your family to bring the best tasting healthy dish. Everyone likes a little healthy competition after-all 😉
